Whip up your appetite for laughter and music as mezzo-soprano Christine Meadows and pianist Susan McDaniel serve up Lee Hoiby’s delicious one-woman opera, Bon Appétit!—a frothy, funny tribute to none other than Julia Child herself. Based on the legendary chef’s TV episodes, this operatic monologue follows Julia’s delightfully chaotic process for baking a classic French chocolate cake. Part culinary tutorial, part comic brilliance, and all heart. We’ll toast the grande dame of the kitchen with champagne—and, of course cake— in All Classical Radio’s dazzling Irving Levin Performance Hall in downtown Portland.
