Kronos Quartet & Sam Green: “A Thousand Thoughts”

Tuesday
February 15, 2022
7:30 pm
Kridel Grand Ballroom

Past Event - February 15

Founded at a time when chamber music was largely centered on long-established, Western European traditions, Kronos has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the string quartet into a living art form that responds to the people and issues of our time. In the process, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential groups of our era. This season will mark the 50th anniversary of the Quartet.

“The Kronos Quartet has broken the boundaries of what string quartets do.”  The New York Times

Program: Tuesday, February 15

A Thousand Thoughts

A “live documentary” film that chronologically unfolds the Kronos Quartet’s groundbreaking, continent-spanning, multi-decade career. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sam Green will narrate the piece live onstage as the Kronos Quartet performs the score, while a rich blend of archival footage, photos, and interviews with members of the Kronos— as well as longtime collaborators like Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Terry Riley, Tanya Tagaq, Steve Reich — unspools on screen.
