Theresa KoonBefore the virtual concert begins, music instructor and composer Theresa Koon will give a free 30-minute pre-concert talk at 2:30 pm. With Theresa’s extensive musical background and her interactive, approachable teaching style, she will delve into the contrast of musical styles included in Richard Goode’s program.

Theresa Koon is familiar to west coast audiences as a singer and actress, having performed with many regional theater companies and orchestras, as well as internationally.  Now a Chautauqua scholar, teacher, and composer, Theresa has written operas, choral cycles, art songs and many other works, usually inspired by issues of social concern.  Mother of Exiles, her piece for choir using Emma Lazarus’ poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, was released on an album of choral works by Navona Records in 2020.  Theresa teaches voice at Portland Community College and in her home studio.
