Shostakovich: The Complete String Quartets
Dmitri Shostakovich, one of the most celebrated composers of the 20th century, exemplifies the turbulent career of an artist under a totalitarian regime. While his symphonies represented his public persona, it was in his fifteen string quartets that he was able to express his innermost thoughts and feelings. Portland audiences will experience the wit, irony, and passion of these quartets in four concerts performed by the fiery Jerusalem Quartet.
